Questions on your mind??

Will therapy work for me?

Therapy is a mutual relationship. Meaning you (the client) and your therapist work together to decide what areas you want to work on and what pace feels good to you. My job is to offer a safe space to listen, provide education and insight, offer skills, reflect back your thoughts and emotions, and hold space for you to explore. The therapeutic approach, length of time in therapy, and relationship with the therapist can all play a role in if you begin to feel you’re making progress.

How long will I need therapy?

There is no standard answer for this. This is based on your level of need, the issues impacting you, and the pace that you would like to go in your sessions. For children, I often recommend at a minimum 4-6 months, to really allow them the time they need to build trust and begin exploring their emotions.

How do I pay since you don’t accept insurance?

I accept payments directly following your session. Payments are processed through the online payment system using debit/credit/HSA/FSA card information. If you have special financial circumstances and can not afford the full rate, there are limited slots for reduced fees. Let’s talk more if this is a concern.

What if I don’t like my therapist or want to end therapy?

I encourage all clients to be open and honest with their therapist. If you no longer feel you need therapy or if I am not a good fit- share that. Don’t worry about hurting your therapist’s feelings. The important part is that you feel you are getting what you need out of the service. If we can make adjustments to make it work- we can try that. But if you’re at a place where you would like to end therapy- you have the right to do that.

Can you prescribe me or my child medication?

No. You will need to see a licensed psychiatrist in order to have psychotropic medication. Medication may be helpful and we can discuss that in your sessions but I can not prescribe medication.

Is there anything else you do not do as a therapist?

I do not tell you what to do or make decisions for you. I walk with you as you decide what is best for you.

I do not conduct educational or psychological testing. I do not conduct child custody evaluations nor do I  provide custody recommendations.

I do not provide treatment for eating disorders, psychotic disorders (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, etc).

Due to state licensing laws, I can only provide therapy to individuals residing in Florida.
